Collection of un-sourced visual reference material which I have collected. This kind of thing can be very important and insightful.

These images were collected over quite a long period of time, mostly because something stuck out or struck me as inspirational in some form. There are hints of humor, typography, layout and aesthetic that have all probably gone into my head and influenced myself at some point. As much as no one would like to admit it, Logically these things must happen and it just has to be accepted I think. However depressing a thought it may be, that the time of complete originality is all but gone, with pockets of great original ideas still lurking in between concepts.
In the internet age that we live in, we are bombarded constantly with streams of images and are constantly editing and making decisions as to what points of interest are. Even things we don't like or find distasteful are registered and referenced by our brain to show how something shouldn't look.
We have all indirectly become art directors of our own lives, in a way that probably could never be conceived 20 years ago. Art and design is a very different game now and I feel it has divided people into two different camps: those who partake in open theft of an idea/image/style who may or may not try to cover up this fact. Or those who can accept this idea of great open reference and through the process of creating something the piece becomes undisputedly their own work.
I find it very difficult to accept that good ideas I have had or continue to have with seemingly no connection to anything, most probably have a subconscious link to something i've seen or heard in the past. When you think about it like that it makes you wonder what the great talent or commodity within you is, your brain or your eyes.
It is both a wonder and a shame that we have such accessibility to worldwide media, photography, design and art from both professional and amateur sources. Wouldn't it be better to live in the woods..
Screen prints printed using a mixture of ink and oil from the spill in the gulf of mexico. All proceeds went to help clear up. Thought this was a fantastic concept in which the process and execution of the print was informed by the subject matter. This is something which you don't often see in prints, with the prints themselves sometimes becoming a removed article from the idea.
